In this episode of "The Inept Gamer" VP Quinn gets to drive a tank! The game is War Thunder, and we put Quinn into the ground forces part of the game where you command a WWII tank against other players over the internet. The game is a bit simpler than Quinn's attempt at Mechwarrior Online as the tank only has one cannon and possibly a machine gun or two, but there are a lot more technical details to worry about in the game such as where is your (and their) armor the thickest and what types of ammo to use, as well as trying to stay angled towards the target. Target spotting can also be tough as Quinn finds out. Come watch the adventure as Quinn gets shot and doesn't see where from, and constantly looks the wrong way in frustration as I shout out which way to look for where the enemies are. It helps to add to the chaos and shows some of the confusion that the actual tank crews could have felt! Welcome to episode 7 of The Inept Gamer! In this episode VP Quinn tried his hand at a very different type of First Person Shooter; one in which you have to solve puzzles instead of shoot enemies. The game is "Portal" and in it you have a gun that shoots two different colors of portals. One is orange and one is blue, and you can move between them in both directions. If you put a portal on the wall in front of you and one on the roof and walk forward you will move through the wall and come out of the roof. This game will twist your perception of reality, and you have to use these portals to get around obstacles and solve puzzles as you act as a lab rat in a maze for what you can only assume is some kind of crazy robot. Come watch our very own lab rat try to figure out how things work, and see how long it takes until he breaks down in a fit of swearing! Perhaps if he can get far enough he will even be rewarded with his own piece of cake... The following is a High Level Games Special Report! Welcome to The Inept Gamer Episode 6! In case you missed the live stream on twitch you can watch it now here in glorious 1080p! In this episode VP Quinn tries his hand at Borderlands 2. Come watch as he does heroic things like shoot the ground, kill himself with a grenade and scream while flailing with a sword and accidentally jumping over the enemy he is swinging at at the same time! Borderlands 2 is a very high action arcade shooter that looks and feels like you are stuck in a comic book. Everything looks rather cell shaded and many of the weapons have very random qualities. Want a shotgun that shoots rockets? Or has a spread that looks like hearts? A gun or shield that has the AI of an angry murderbot that screams at you? How about a pistol that shoots hugely explosive rounds with horrible accuracy but a fast fire rate? WHY NOT?!? Add to that interesting and crazy characters with unique abilities and a huge dose of humour. In all seriousness, I have never laughed as hard playing any video game as I have at this one and after multiple play throughs it's still comedic gold. Welcome to Episode 5 of the Inept Gamer. In this episode VP Quinn takes up the fight to retake Earth from the Advent in XCOM 2. XCOM 2 is a turn based strategy game, and follows in a long line of games that are known for being brutally unforgiving. As it is turn based Quinn has time to think about his actions and to get used to the interface before he acts unlike some of the previous episodes, so the struggles are just in the difficulty of the game itself and not so much in trying to figure out how to play the game. Tune in and watch as humanities chances of taking back Earth dwindle rapidly under their new commander! |
The world is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind.
